On Sunday, July 21, Mary, a friend and I spent the afternoon playing music in a small, bamboo hut in Caia, Sofala province. A local organization gave us permission to use their drumset, hand drums, and whatever else we could find.



Mary took this video with her camera, which, we learned later that afternoon, doesn't record sound. Imagine afro-latin rhythms with clave beat on the drumset and a conga player who wishes to be a timbale player.
